A Friendly Competition to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Welcome to Bellingham's Taming Bigfoot competition webpage!
Taming Bigfoot is a competition that makes it fun, rewarding and educational to reduce your carbon footprint! This exciting event is organized by Carbon Neutral Bellingham in the effort to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in our community. Through a combination of endorsements, sponsorships, participation and media coverage, Taming Bigfoot connects local citizens in new ways to collectively address one of the largest challenges of our time.
Once the competition kicks off, teams will have 3 months to devise and carry out different strategies to reduce their “carbon footprint”. Teams must consist of 7 people and fulfill the diversity criteria that's listed below. The winning team will be the one that has lowered their team's collective carbon footprint the most.
Team Diversity Criteria
Each 7-person team must consist of members that collectively fulfill all 7 of these criteria:
- lives in Bellingham
- lives outside Bellingham
- lives a "green" lifestyle already (loosely defined)
- does not live a "green" lifestyle (loosely defined)
- lives alone or with only one other person
- 30 years old, or younger
- is a prominent member of the community (loosely defined)
